If we are ever going to interact with God, it is going to have to be on his terms. He ordained that Solomon build a temple – one that David his father had hoped to build. To dedicate it, the king organized a national worship service – possibly the most important in Israel’s history.
The night Jesus was betrayed, he celebrated the Passover with his disciples. Christ died in conjunction with the Passover. That was no coincidence. “And when I see the blood, I will pass over you…” (Exodus 12:13)
We come today to the end of a first-century sermon written by an author trained in Jewish rabbinical tradition. He wrote this to a congregation of Jewish Christian believers, probably residing in Rome. He has encouraged them to remain faithful to Jesus no matter what. And he wants them to understand that knowing and following Jesus is far and away better than any religious tradition they can ever find anywhere else.
Certain jobs are never quite completed. For example: Cleaning, cutting the grass, washing Clothes, add your (least) favorite routine item here. Christ came to this earth on a mission. He finished the job. Our redemption is complete.
