We may ignore prayer because it does not seem effective. Prayer is somewhat humiliating, because it reminds us that we are powerless, weak and needy before God. Jesus said it clearly when he said, “without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) Prayer is powerful because God is powerful and God invites us to pray.
Each of us experiences trials and temptations. They are a normal part of life. Still, it is vital that we understand how to deal with them properly. As we begin his letter, James will help us with that today.

Strictly speaking spiritual renewal doesn’t follow any strict formula. It’s a work of God’s grace and, as such, is entirely dependent upon Him. Still, if we are willing to recognize our need for spiritual renewal, then we can take conscious steps in that direction. God, as it happens, loves to move in the lives of people who are earnestly seeking Him.
