God has prepared an inheritance for us and we are waiting for that day when we will fully come into it. Prophets in ancient times spoke of the salvation that we experience in Jesus Christ. We are living each day filled with hope, looking for the fulfillment of all that God has had planned since the very beginning. Belonging to Jesus for eternity is supposed to transform how we live right now.
Strictly speaking spiritual renewal doesn’t follow any strict formula. It’s a work of God’s grace and, as such, is entirely dependent upon Him. God, as it happens, loves to move in the lives of people who are earnestly seeking Him.
We are now firmly into the application section of Paul’s letter. Not much deep theology here. Paul tells us very straightforwardly what is right and what is wrong. The only proper response to this passage is to believe it and act accordingly. At the end, however, we’ll talk a bit about why Christians so often don’t seem to get this right.
