Certain jobs are never quite completed. For example: Cleaning, cutting the grass, washing Clothes, add your (least) favorite routine item here. Christ came to this earth on a mission. He finished the job. Our redemption is complete.
Many people in America are Almost Christian. That was the title of a book that came out last year by a Princeton scholar, but the data come from a study a few years back. The principal American faith, which the scholars have labeled Moralistic Therapeutic Deism, is almost Christian. Almost, but not quite. To know the true and the living God, we have to give up our idols – the false gods that we now believe in.
“Familiarity breeds contempt” says the proverb. Turns out, according to a recent study , that on average, we like other people less the more we know about them. Familiarity really does breed contempt. Sometimes our familiarity with Jesus can make even Him seem less interesting, but in that case the fault is really our own.
Disorder is more probable than order. Think of it as entropy. Attribute it to the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Whatever mental category you use, disorder is more probable than order and that principle applies to churches as well as physical substances.
Unity in the church is achieved by design. If we don’t think about what we are doing as a body, disorder will be more probable than order. If we are intentional about working together and putting others before ourselves, unity will be the result.
