A Prayer Prompted by Mark 5

Dear Heavenly Father,

There are times when we feel completely helpless, but this chapter shows us that Jesus is willing and able to help us in those times of our desperate need.

As in the case of the demons, we declare Christ’s power over the spiritual realm and any spiritual attack we may undergo.

As in the case of the woman, we believe that there is no sin, disease or condition that we may face that puts us outside of your grace, your love and your ability.

As in the case of Jairus’s daughter, we declare that Jesus has conquered even death.

Teach us to come to him for help, whether our needs are small or great. We understand that we truly depend on your grace and your provision through him, first of all, for our sin. That was our greatest need.

In Christ’s name we pray,

Amen.

A Prayer Prompted by Mark 4

Heavenly Father,

We confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is worthy of our worship and worthy of our most complete loyalty and commitment.

We pray that you would fill us with the confidence we need to be open about our faith.

We pray also for patience and perseverance in the task of sowing the word.

We pray that over time our lives would bear fruit as you intend. Let us be that good soil in which your word produces fruit, thirty, sixty and one hundredfold what we are given.

We look to you as the one who can make that happen in our lives, and we know full well it is not something that we can accomplish in and of ourselves.

In Christ,

Amen.

A Prayer Prompted by Mark 3

Heavenly Father,

We see Jesus having to endure being misunderstood by his family and accused of being evil by the religious leaders of his day.

We do not want to make those mistakes. We realize that if we reject Jesus, then there is no payment available for our sins against you.

Our relationship with you, through Christ, is and always needs to be the most important relationship in our lives.

It makes us your family and gives us the truest family we will ever have – the family of God.

Help us to be obedient and willing to do your will. Help us to respond well to whatever calling you place upon our lives.

And help us to see Jesus as Lord, the one who truly deserves our worship and complete obedience.

In Christ,

Amen.

A Prayer Prompted by Mark 2

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for sending Jesus to us who experienced what we experience and went through what we go through.  He gives us a way to truly relate to God.

We thank you also that while here on earth he exercised divine authority. In doing so he shows us that he truly is God as well as a perfect man.

Help us to be more like him in desiring to see sinners saved.  Help us to never consider ourselves too good for someone else. Help us to never see ourselves as better than those around us. Help us to serve them well in order to better serve you.

Let us remain flexible, eager to grow and change for the better so that we can continuously be used by you.  If you should decide to do something new and exciting, we want to be a part of it.

Help us to recognize when you are working in our lives. We need and truly want to be effective in our service to you and your kingdom.  We ask you to mold our hearts, our attitudes, our character and our desires.

Conform us to the image of Christ,

Amen.
