This psalm begins with David crying out to God in the midst of trouble. It ends with an expression of confident faith.

Saul never quite seems to get it. His compliance with God’s will is always iffy. His defiance is always finding new ways to express itself. This is the end.

David is held up as Israel’s greatest king – the one to which others are compared. He also begins the royal line that leads us to Jesus Christ. This is where the Bible introduces us to him.
