Palmer St. Podcast: Romans 8:18-28

You may feel at times that being a Christian is like being one of the Baudelaire children in A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Christian life has its share of trials. If fact, as we see in Romans 8, they are an essential component of a life lived under the influence of the Holy Spirit. In other words, it’s not just the least spiritual people who face difficulties, it’s also the most spiritual. Trials are an essential component of the Spirit-filled life, but we can be confident as we face them.

Palmer St. Podcast: Romans 8:1-17

In Chapters 6 & 7 Paul carefully expressed to us the conflict we experience between the Spirit and the flesh. He pointed out how sin takes hold within our flesh and prompts us to do things that we know we shouldn’t be doing. He pointed out that we need to consider ourselves dead to sin, dead to the law and alive to Jesus Christ. In Chapter 8 we find out how spiritual life begins to take shape.

Palmer St. Podcast: Romans 6

Romans 5 ended with the statement “Where sin abounds grace abounds much more!” Paul responds to that statement saying, “Great! If sin leads to grace, then why not keep on sinning?” In Romans 6 we look at the believer’s relationship to sin, finding out that we are:

1. Dead to Sin, Alive to God
2. Set Free from Sin, Now Slaves of God
