Do you really believe that?

For many, the Christian faith has become increasingly implausible.  The question is not so much whether one believes, but rather “How can one possibly believe such things as this to be true.  This morning we’re having an introductory apologetics seminar at Calvary Chapel Bible College of Indianapolis.  Here are the power points that I’m using and some other handouts that are being given to those who attend.

  1. hey dave – have you read tim keller’s book “the reason for God”? i used it as a basis for an apologetics class we did for our school of ministry here. it’s really good, i think you’d like it.

  2. Yes Ben, thanks, I’ve read it, like it and have even recommended it to others. I keep a copy around somewhere. Now that you mention it, I should have included that as another option in recommended reading. He addresses a lot of the crucial questions that all of us face in ministry. So, thanks for bringing that up.

Two more I forgot to mention that make for some pretty good entry level stuff are:
    1. Lee Strobel and his “The Case for …” series
    2. Paul E. Little’s “Know Why You Believe”

No author appeals to everyone, of course, but there are a lot of good things out there from the most popular to the most scholarly levels. It’s good to start with something simpler or more accessible and then work your way deeper from there.
